Huashan Hospital

Huashan Hospital in Shanghai, affiliated with Fudan University. The hospital is home to the National Medical Center for Neurological Diseases, the National Medical Center for Infectious Diseases, and the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases, and serves as the national quality control center for dermatology and sexually transmitted infections.

It encompasses 10 national key disciplines of the Ministry of Education, 2 state key laboratories, 3 Shanghai key laboratories, 2 municipal clinical research centers, 6 municipal engineering and technology centers, 4 municipal top-priority clinical medical centers, and 1 municipal top-priority clinical key discipline.

In recent years it has averaged more than 6 million outpatient and emergency visits annually, with nearly 200,000 discharged patients and over 100,000 surgeries per year. As the first institution in Shanghai to provide medical services to foreigners, the hospital is the designated medical institution for the consulates of 10 countries and has served more than 600,000 international patients from over 100 countries and regions.

The hospital has a powerful talent pool of renowned specialists. It currently employs more than 6,000 staff, over 80% of whom are medical professionals, including more than 800 specialists with senior professional titles. Over its history the hospital has been home to 4 academicians; its staff have been selected 35 times for national high-level talent programs and 17 times for national young talent programs; it counts 23 lifetime professors, around 40 chairs or vice-chairs of national professional academic committees, and more than 60 of Shanghai municipal professional academic committees.
